Advocate Zargar Patnavi Director General National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India Urges Prime Minister to Prioritize Local State Admissions in BOPEE 2024 Physical Counselling for B.Sc. Nursing and Other Courses
October 3rd 2024
Advocate Zargar Patnavi, Director General of the National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India (NHRSJC), has made a strong appeal to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha and other government officials to allow state-specific admissions during the upcoming physical counselling for BOPEE 2024. The counselling will determine placements for B.Sc. Nursing and other professional courses.
Advocate Zargar Patnavi, a prominent voice in human rights and social justice, expressed his concerns over the difficulties faced by students seeking admission in other states. He pointed out that many students, especially from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are unable to afford relocation costs and face significant hardships when forced to study outside their home regions. According to him, prioritizing local admissions would reduce these burdens and ensure that students have access to quality education closer to home.
“In times of rising inflation and economic hardship, it is vital that the government steps in to make education accessible and affordable for all. Allowing students to gain admission within their local states will not only reduce their financial strain but also provide them with a sense of security and stability,” said Advocate Patnavi.
He further emphasized that access to education is a basic human right and that the government must ensure no student is denied an education due to geographical or financial constraints. Patnavi called for an urgent review of the current admission process to prioritize local candidates in the counselling sessions and ensure more seats are allocated to students from their respective states.
The BOPEE (Board of Professional Entrance Examinations) process is a critical step for thousands of aspiring students seeking to pursue careers in healthcare and other professional fields. By ensuring that local students are given precedence in admissions, Patnavi believes that the government will be taking a significant step toward equitable education and social justice.
Advocate Zargar Patnavi’s appeal has garnered attention and support from various student groups and civil society organizations, who have echoed the need for educational reforms that promote accessibility and fairness. He concluded his statement by urging swift government action to address the concerns of students and families across the nation.
